School Holidays - a Survival Guide!
Family Matters - Family Activites
The school holidays are nearly upon us. Six weeks of keeping the kids cared for, occupied and entertained. The average time it takes for your kids to bore of being at home? After about 10 minutes into the first day!
Here at BnB we've a few suggestions to keep your little (and big) ones busy until September!
Send them to summer school
Out of school clubs are becoming increasingly popular and there's not a textbook or red pen in sight! Arts & crafts and sports are amongst the many activities on offer and there's the added bonus of your child meeting friends there. Drama clubs often run in the school holidays for any aspiring actor/actress in your households, football and cricket clubs sometimes run training camps for colts too. Local councils also run play schemes. Contact them for details and ensure they are Ofsted-recognised.
Use free internet resources to keep them busy
There are plenty of websites which are suitable for your children to muse over - CBeebies, Disney, There are also some fabulous sites which allow you to download and print free activites, such as iChild which are perfect for keeping your kids busy and are both fun and educational!
New! Maternity & Parenting Rights
Whether it's your first or fith child, you need to know what your rights are as an expectant or expanding family. These rights and entitlements are also frequently changed, so it's important that you check regularly to make sure you are getting what you are entitled to.
There are a lot of incentives and grants that a pregnant mother can benefit from. Ranging from time off work for antenatal appointments to a £190 healthy eating grant from the government.
But the Parenting incentives don't stop there. Once you've given birth your rights continue to grow, after all as a parent you're a valuble commodity in the continuation of the country!
Don't forget about Daddy either. Some of these rights apply to him too, including paternity leave to the right to request flexible working. It's not just women who make a baby after all.
Please read on and go to our Maternity & Parenting rights section to find out more about what you're entitled to, as a Mum or Mum to be.
