Popping spots! Can you? Should you? When?
Popping spots! Can you? Should you? When?
Ok - we all know the deal… you get told when you are a teenager, leave that b****y spot alone! But is it EVER ok to pop a spot?
The short answer is YES it is; BUT you should ensure you follow the 'traffic light rules' before embarking on a spot popping frenzy!

- If it is RED…don’t squeeze it or pop it! You might get rid of the spot but you will end up damaging your skin in the process.
- If it's YELLOW...you have the GREEN light to pop it!
How to pop a spot!
If it is yellow (and ONLY if!) it is ok to pop. Make sure your hands are CLEAN and try to pull the skin around the spot away from it to pop rather than squeeze, as this is more likely to inflame the skin or worse, damage it.
DO NOT keep squeezing until you get to the blood! This is more likely to cause scarring (especially if you then pick the scab!) Simply remove the pus or blackhead from the area, then ALWAYS make sure you cleanse and tone afterwards. If you don’t you are increasing your chances of getting more spots elsewhere as the bacteria is sitting on your skin.
