Complications and Support
The biggest risk of complication from miscarriage is that of picking up an infection – you would need to see your GP and will probably be prescribed antibiotics if the bleeding doesn’t stop after 10 days or so.
The most common complication of miscarriage is the EMOTIONAL IMPACT it can have on you – it doesn’t matter how early the pregnancy was lost, or even if it was intentional, your loss may still affect you. It can affect both partners and it is normal to feel a combination of the following emotions
- Grief
- Distress
- Shock
- Guilt
- Anger
- Depression
You may feel alone – if so, you need to talk to your partner as he is probably feeling the same!
If you need someone to talk to, there are many women on our forums who have experienced miscarriage, or for more professional support – why not contact the miscarriage association?
