Post Natal Depression

Postnatal Depression (PND) is what happens when you become depressed after having a baby. It can occur at any time with the first year of giving birth although most cases present within 4 to 6 weeks. It can start right after delivery but usually it develops slowly and becomes more evident over time. It is very common for a mother to not know what is happening to her especially if she has not experience depression before, in this case the illness has often become established and debilitating before she is aware of what is happening to her. This is often because after giving birth a mother is more focused on looking after her little one than focusing on herself and therefore she may not notice the warning signs or as is often the case she just doesn’t want to admit that something may be wrong.
