Wedding planning!!

Well the time has come when I need to start making some firm decisions, like bridesmaids colours, my dress, the cake, flowers etc... I just cant choose!!!

Thought I would see if anyone has any tips, useful websites or ideas for planning the perfect wedding!

we didnt have much time to spare with the 2 weeks before just whizzing round before we knew it, and had to do some serious budgeting down, we actually got the flowers from poundland!!!!! haha!!!! but everyone commented on how nice they were, my advice would be shop around and dont go for all the expensive stuff as sometimes the simple stuff is nicer.

What a fantastic idea starting this tinks.

We went for Pale Blue for our bridesmaid dresses and the blokes had silvery waistcoats which looked really good. One good idea i have seen done at other wedding evening do's is to leave a disposable camera on each table so people on that table can take informal photo's. You end up seeing things that you would normally miss coz you can only be in one place at a time.

http://www.confetti.co.uk/ is a good website to look for ideas on. There are also lots of good websites where you can get lovely invites and cake boxes at a reasonable price as you can spend a fortune on them given the chance.

I'll keep thinking of ideas for you hun. My wedding was almost 7 years ago now so i have to search my brain lol.

Hi Girls,

Yeah I know some of the prices can be ridiculous, will be doing some serious budgetting on some things. My mum is making my dress and also the bridesmaids and flower girls, so that is going to save us a small fortune!! Will be good too, cos it makes it a bit more personal I think, although im pinching ideas from wedding dress sites we will obv be making our own little changes to it so at least I know no one else will have the exact dress as me. Hoping to go up home in March for a week or so to just get as much done as we can then, going to go do all the shopping for the dress fabrics and things like that then and DH and the men going for their kilt fittings.

I saw these totally gorgeous name placecards on confetti.co.uk but they are 6.99 for a pack of ten!!!!! So for 100 guests that 70 quid!!! Erm... no thanks! So ive ordered one pack and me and mum are going to use them as templates to make the rest of them with our own card haha!! I know it sounds cheap but am I HELL paying 70 quid for 100 tiny bits of card!! lol

We arent havent any evening guests, because all our families and friends are all over the place everyone is going to have to travel so decided I would just have day guests only. We dont have masses of family and friends anyway so everyone that I want to invite I would want to be there for the whole thing anyway.

DH wont tell me where we are going for honeymoon!! He says im not finding out til the check-in desk! At least I dont have to worry about planning that though and it is romantic but annoying not knowing!! lol

What a lovely idea making your dress. Your right in that no-one else will own one like it and think of all that money you will save. That's def good in my opinion

I agree with your plan for the place cards. It's amazing how much the word Wedding bumps up the price of things. It's coz they know people will pay it and it makes me sooooo mad. Good for you doing what you are doing. I bet they will look as good as the real thing!

How romantic DH not telling you where you are going on honeymoon. I hope he tells you whether the place is hot or cold though so you know what sort of clothes to pack. It'll be a lovely surprise for you after all your hard work with organising the wedding.

Have you been upto anything else to get prepared?
